Studio Lievito
Studio Lievito was founded in 2012 by Francesco Taviani, Laura Passalacqua and Jacopo Volpi. Its mission is to design one-off and serially produced pieces that redefine contemporary production techniques through traditional manufacturing methods. It puts forward a vision of design that subverts conventional canons through simple yet witty ‘gestures’. The aim is to turn everyday objects into pieces that speak, combining traditional materials with contemporary forms and technologies. The studio designs collections for a number of Italian and international design brands, while also producing its own limited collections: one-off pieces made by Italian craftsmen that showcase local materials and traditional techniques reinterpreted in a contemporary key. It also exhibits at galleries in Italy and abroad, and some of its creations are part of the Triennale Design Museum selection. Studio Lievito also works with museums and cultural institutions, as well as with academies and universities such as IED and the University of Florence, teaching courses and running workshops.
