Matali Crasset

Matali Crasset is an internationally renowned French designer. Since her training at the Ateliers-ENSCI in the 1990s, she has championed design as a blend of artistic, anthropological and social practice. She works towards a design of creation, of dwelling and of everyday life: how can design contribute to living together and accompany us in the contemporary world? It is from this simple yet committed premise that she thinks and works “on the move”. For 30 years she has been inventing her own unique path, fuelled by the hundreds of projects she has carried out in architecture, but also in set design, object design, furniture, public spaces and exhibition design. Her works are shown at cultural institutions in France and abroad, and are held in the main design collections of various museums, from MoMA in New York to the Centre Pompidou… Her design, with neither borders nor territory, is the expression of a deep conviction: that the creative process is a human, social and ecological project. For the purpose of a project lies not solely in its realisation, but in the process itself and in its capacity to create bonds, to build a system of exchange and reciprocity between individuals and with the natural environment. This is how every project becomes a shared work.
